Development of Internet technologies bring convenience to people's lives. And different types of location-based services are also becoming more and more popular. As a result, Navigation and Positioning, an interdisciplinary, has also become a popular field. Currently Represented by GPS of United States, the global positioning systems have matured. As an outdoor location system, its accuracy can already meet the requirements of civilian areas. Under indoor conditions, however, the technology has failed to play its role. This is because the signal is too weak to penetrate into the room. Urbanization development results in high-rise buildings everywhere. Even in outdoor conditions, these buildings including the trees also have a signal blocking effect. In this case, it needs an effectively positioning technology to meet this demand. In recent years, wireless sensor network technology has become a hotspot. As one of this technology, the ZigBee technology with its low power consumption, low cost, high security performance, become the key technology of indoor locationPaper describes the current status of wireless sensor technology. By comparing the technical advantages and disadvantages of wireless sensor networks, ZigBee technology obtained the feasibility of indoor positioning solutions. At present ZigBee indoor positioning technology mainly use two ways including the loss model location method and the fingerprint database location method. Although the fingerprint database location method has a relatively high positioning accuracy, the early projects of building database are huge. This restricts its application. The loss model location method is more flexible than the fingerprint database location method. While the model is easily affected by environment. Its parameters are mainly based on experience, so it is random. The new methods of model parameters base on evolutionary theory to approach optimal parameters. Also due to the nodes layout method has a decisive role in signal transmission. So Paper established a judging criteria for the layout of nodes and studied quality of layout methods. By building the TI CC2530 ZigBee wireless network platform, the loss model parameters were optimized approached. And then the error of each layout method are compared. It can be seen that when the area error is smaller, the location error is smaller too. So the paper has a certain value.
