Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN) are developing rapid,which accompany with MEMS,SOC, wireless communications and the development of low-power embedded technology.WSN brings significant changes in perception of information field because of low powerconsumption, low cost, distributed, and the characteristics of self-organization. WSN arewidely used in environment monitoring, health care, military defense, target tracking, fieldmonitoring and so on. Node localization is the foundation and key elements in manyapplication scenarios, which is also one of the supporting technology of WSN. The sensornode precise positioning is very important especially in the monitoring of coal mine rescue,high-rise building fire safety applications, which is a matter of life and property safety.This paper introduces the basic knowledge of wireless sensor networks in the first part.In the second part makes a deeep research and analysis for WSN node localization technology.In the third part makes a introduce of ZigBee technology. In the fourth part makes a introduceof wireless sensor networks node positioning system, which using RSSI positioningtechnology and TI company’s CC2431chip with positioning engine. This system can takes asteady highly accuracy positioning in some scenes, which can be widely used in themonitoring of coal mine rescue, high-rise building fire safety applications.In the last part provides several improvement direction for the system research. At thesame time looks forward for the subsequent of the node terminal to collect data and userterminals to process data, which can be improved later.
