| Design museum is an important part of the development of design history;it is not only a public space aiming at collection,reserve,research and demonstration,but one that impel design to be new point of economic growth under the new norm and one of the crucial factors of cultural prosperity.However,to interpret and understand things in a "design" manner;with the constant change of content embodied by the word "design" itself and the continuous emergence of new interpretation of its concept,design museum differs from traditional museum in terms of collection,which is the basis of everything.And this precipitates the emergence of characteristics and functions in design museum that others don't have on condition that it possesses the common characteristics of normal museums.Since the industrial revolution,western countries began to set up independent design museum to enhance the aesthetic consciousness of the middle class and the added value of products.After the new century,the distribution of design museums is more extensive,and the organization of the exhibitions and activities becomes more frequent,people tend to have a more profound understanding of the function of design museums.Then have a look at design museums of our country-they are still in the starting stage.Under the general background of the development of cultural undertakings in our country,design museums would be the next target to be intensively developed.Newly founded design museums would be established soon in different forms.The internal development of design profession also hastened the parturition of establishing design museums.The text tries to summarize on the concept and characteristics of design museum and hackle its development process taking museum science as the basis and using knowledge of design as supplement.Meanwhile,the author also hopes to provide design museums under construction or in operation and similar and related organizations with effective suggestions and thoughts via summary and conclusion. |
