With the rapid development of electronic information technology, electronics manufacturing faces great challenge of miniaturization and high integration density. Surface mount technology(SMT) in the advanced manufacturing should be improved to adapt the development. As the most expensive device in the various SMT devices, the chip mounter is continuously developing to the trend of high speed and high degree of integration, and its development has attract more and more attention of the engineering staff in a variety of fields.To research the key technology of the chip mounter, and provide an open experimental system for the developers, a mount technology experimental system was designed and constructed in this paper. Based on the hardware system, the controlling and the demo of mounting program were developed, and the design was validated. The outlines of this paper are listed as follows:Firstly, the overall configuration of the mounting technology experimental system is introduced generally, and the basic moving platform and mounting head device were illustrated in detail.Secondly, the program for the lowest rung controller and the host-computer software with interface were well developed. The program form the basic platform controller DVP-20 PMOOM and the mounting head controller PMC-20MT-3 were developed respectively according to the needs. Homing method achieved to accomplish the function of basic platform two order origin regression, independent motion along each Cartesian coordinate axis, three-axis linkage motion were also accomplished. The mount head functions well for fetching and mounting elements. The host and the slave computers commutate with each other by the serial communication Modbus protocol. Automatic placement algorithm designed to settle the issue of coordinated control of two controllers. To make the host-computer software run more smoothly and easier to upgrade, Multi-Thread and DLL was used.Finally, the program for the lowest rung controller and the host-computer software were tested by experiment. The experimental results of regression tests validate the algorithm of origin regression. The feedback of grid ruler was taken to the controller. Thus, the system forms a double closed loop controlling system A method based on high-speed counter was proposed, according to the results from the position accuracy tests under semi-closed loop system The accuracy of the system was further improved by optimize the algorithm. The experimental results validate the approach to design the platform.
