Abstract/Summary:
Kiln has an innegligible relationship with the whole human civilization history, our ancestors use kilns to firing pottery thousands of years ago. As human leaped into industrial socially, kiln has evolved rapidly to meet the new emerging needs. It plays an momentous role in modern society. In order to make the qualified products, the combustion process must be controlled in a certain way. There are three method to control the kiln. Manual control uses the measuring instrument to get the various provess value, then the operator adjust them manually. This method is very primitive, and lack of precision. Semi-automatic control uses solenoids, while improves the precision it still fell in short of inflexibility. Automatic control use the programmable logic controller and the computer software technology in order to manipulate the kiln autonomously. It has the advantages of flexibility and scalability, and adopted wildly in modern industry.In the earlier days, the so called automatic is still, in essence, semi- automatic, for the computer software is just to sample and record the process values. As the time goes by, now the computer software take the core role of control to instruct the whole kiln system. While the computer software is a booming technology, the software used in kiln control system is, unfortunately, very rudimentary. The control software is just a monolithic system and developed in an ad hoc way. Hardly it can meet the new needs in this day. It is the time to re-design and re-construct the kiln control software system in a software engineering approach, so it can facilities the deployment and maintenance of the system and evolve more easily to adapt the new emerging requirements. It is more likely the efficiency of the kiln will be greatly improved, while reduce the operational cost.In this paper, the theory of the process control is first introduced. Then it emphasized on the analysis of kiln operation and modeling the working flow. Based on this knowledge, the design and implementation of the kiln control software system is meticulously discussed. Finally, the test shows that this system meets the needs and satisfies the requirements. And prove its viability and reliability. The author’s main contribution outline as follows:1. Analysis the industrial kiln software control system, carry on the requirement modeling and data modeling.2. Design the industrial kiln software control system’s architecture and its various function block.3. Implement the system’s combustion control component and physical quantity control component, and then integrate to the kiln system.4. Deploy the industrial kiln software control system, test the system and analysis the results.Based on the meticulously systematic test, it shows that this new designed industrial kiln software control system has been achieved the expected requirements and proves the feasibility and reliability of this sytem.
