Information technology has a profound influence on universities development. Network teaching platform based on information technology not only changes the way of education, but also has influenced the manner of knowledge storage and transmission. Network teaching, related to the quality and efficiency of education and management in universities, reflects the modern education development of a country, which is extremely significant in the era of big data.Based on this background, this thesis researches the design and implementation of network teaching platform in universities. The platform will provide virtual teaching service and real time web chat for all the Internet users in any given time, which can improve the efficency of online education. The goal of network teaching platform is to make full use of the university education resource and improve the teaching service to all the students.In the requirement analysis, the function module is constructed by the combination of market research and practical experience, which uses the practical teaching idea as the guidance and describe the system by using case diagrams based on UML. In the analysis of non-requirement, the concrete data of system is described and the safty is analysed. In the overall architecture design, the structure of system function is provided. The system is designed on the basis of MVC three layer structure. The layered design idea improves the robustness of the software. Finally, we give the network deployment architecture based on the B/S structure. In the system design and implementation, we adopt J2 EE development platform and uses object-oriented thinking. Firstly, we design the overall system diagram and details of the typical function modules based on flow diagram and sequence diagram, including course work, situational classroom and Web online chat. In particular, in this paper we realize the teaching video on demand function and provides a situational teaching environment through JSP technology. Based on Socket Java, we realize the real-time interaction between teachers and students. In data modeling phase, the system model the structured data in the network teaching platform by using the method of combined storage. Relational database and file index are used to store the structural and un-structural data, such as PPT, PDF, picture and video.We examine the integrity, correctness and stabilityof the system by function and performance testing. The function testing, based on black box testing method, is to verify system functionality. In performance test processing, we use the simulation software for pressure test. The content of performance test includes the response time, fault frequency, memory usage, CPU occupancy rate and other indicators of the system. Test results show that network teaching platform in universityies can meet the requirement of network education, and significantly improve the efficiency and quality of university education.
