Along with the development of modern communication technologies and the improvement of electronic chip integration, mobile terminals are taking a major step towards their goals of intelligence, efficiency, and multi-function. Telephones with big screen are emerging in a large range, which provides a new opportunity for the innovation of stereoscopic imaging technology. Mobile terminals with real-time 3D image capture and display function could bring the customers strong sense of visual impact and shock for their purpose. This paper proposes a systematic design solution of capturing, composing, and displaying high-quality real-time double view stereoscopic image on an Android based mobile terminal, together with an optimization scheme for double view stereo image parallax adjustment.Android is a mobile operation system based on Java, running on top of a Linux kernel. It has four system architecture layers so that developers are able to conduct their development and transplantation work on different levels independently, without patent barriers concerns. By customizing the original Android camera sub-system and the system libraries, the system proposed in this paper is capable of capturing, composing, and displaying real-time stereo image, with little time delay.Though the calculation performance of mobile terminal platforms nowadays is rapidly booming, their 3D display performance unfortunately does not meet the requirements of the picky customers. For the problem mentioned above, this paper brings up an optimization scheme for double view stereoscopic image parallax adjustment, by slightly changing the relative position between the left and the right view windows.
