As an important component of campus information construction, comprehensive college website played a role of culture publicity, transfer the teaching and science researching information, therefore, it is indispensable. However, current situation of the comprehensive college websites shows there is no innovation and characteristic for most comprehensive college.Since the college sort in domestic can be classified as science, engineering, and many other types, the design of website for each type must have individual principle and key point. To make this paper more pertinent, comprehensive college has been chosen to be the object of study, in addition, the visual element function in web-design has been studied.In this paper the meaning of the study of website interface design for information construction and publicity of college visual image has been illustrated, thirty-five comprehensive universities web interface under the Ministry of Education were selected as the samples. To analysis the application of visual element in interface designation, three issues have been discussion such as layout, components and color. By analysis and compare the key element in website interface of universities, the advantages and disadvantages for each element have been shown. In the last, based on the principle of "user was the center", the strategy of visual optimization of website interface was been summarized by analysis the results static of questionnaires.In this paper the current situation of comprehensive college website has been established; by point out the disadvantages and the way to optimization, the design which can not only server the user better, but also can establish college visual image and culture better was expected.
