Present phonetics research needs of a variety of testing equipment to observe the movement of tract movement status, EMA, ultrasound, micro endoscope device detection channels are the traditional devices detecting tract movement. However, most of these devices are very expensive or having large detection error, for these reasons we have developed Optical Palatography(For short: OPG). OPG is a kind of tract movement detecting instrument which is based on the principle of optical distance detecting, it can detect distance away from the tongue to pronounce subject palate, and then you can get to the upper jaw relative position of the reference position for the tongue movement.OPG is divided into three parts: sensor module, control module and data acquisition module. The sensor module uses VCNL3020 which is a kind of digital photoelectric sensor, can measure distances in excess of 200 mm, control terminal in addition to working outside the control of the sensor unit is also responsible for controlling the LCD digital display, TCA9548 A multiple IIC interface extensions and PWM signal generation and so on. Data acquisition module uses AI-1608AY-USB which can synchronize voice signal while collecting sensor data. With height gauge we collect data in the range 0 to 30 mm, then we fit these data to get the function between sensor output and the distance based on the gaussian fitting. We do some experiments using different pronunciation, show these data in form of software interface screenshots, charts and tables, and the experimental results were analyzed.OPG has broad prospects for development, on the one hand, more features can be integrated into the OPG system then the measurement system is developed into an integrated test platform, on the other hand, we will do more work to make it become a kind of wearable computing devices.
