Design Of Automatic Material Detection And Sorting System Based On PLC

With the rapid development of the technology, the automatic manufacture technology is being used more and more widely. Meanwhile, with the more and fiercer market competition, many enterprises have applied all kinds of automatic production line or improve production facilities. The appliance of automatic control technology has improved the production efficiency, reduced labor intensity, and improved the quality control as well as process control in enterprise production, which makes the research of automatic production line become one of the inevitable trends in automation field development.Material automatic sorting has been widely used in automatic production line, product assembly line and automatic multi-layered warehouse. Compared to traditional manual sorting, automatic material sorting has lots of advantages such as high efficiency, low error rate, more sorting points and no artificialization work. The control unit is the core of the automatic sorting device. A material automatic sorting system which based on PLC and pneumatics is presented in this topic.This automatic sorting system takes Mitsubishi FX2N series PLC as control unit which consists of feeding module, material incoming module and material handling and sorting module. Each module is one small machinery and electronic system based on pneumatics. Meanwhile, the whole system includes kinds of sensors to offer different signals of work piece positions, conditions and colors, with the help of PLC controlling the all modules and applying touchpanel as input tool to realize different sorting of various materials with different colors. The experiments show this sorting system has high accuracy, stable running condition and can be used in different material sorting condition with replacement of different sensors.
