Seamless display technologies of multiple projectors is one of the most heated research spots for virtual reality. Among the technologies, seamless display technology of the curved screen has been widely used in medical science, military, space industry and entertainment. The curved screen enhances the immersion of the observe and improves the viewing effect. In this paper, we carry out a research on the seamless display technology of multiple projectors on the curved screen, which includes distortion calibration of single projected images, position fusion and light fusion of multiple projected images. Moreover, we study on a new distortion calibrating approach based on point cloud, which is with higher accuracy and can be used one complicated curved surfaces. The research work of this paper are as below:First of all, we study and analyze the classical distortion calibrating approaches. Focused on the disadvantages that the distortion calibrating approach based on control point has low accuracy and the distortion calibrating approach based on surface fitting has a large error, we study on a distortion calibrating approach based on point cloud. The distortion calibrating approach based on point cloud has better accuracy and can be applied to complicated surfaces. This approach is a lower sampling rate than that of the approach based on surface fitting, but it can be overcome by using high resolution cameras.Furthermore, we study on the classical position fusion approach. The manual position fusion approach has complicated manual operation and limited application range. Also, the position fusion approach based on the software is prone to be affected by the relative position of the projector and camera. In this paper, we study on a new position fusion approach based on point cloud, which is more accurate and offers a more flexible position for the projector and camera. Moreover, we study on the classical light intensity fusion approach. The level-matching approach and the edge fusion approach can only calibrate part of the intensity difference. In this paper, we study on a light intensity fusion approach based on the combination of level-matching and edge-fusion, which is easy to operate and has a good fusion result.According to the research above,we implement simulated experiment on the plane, sphere and complex surfaces. At last we implement real experiment to verify the proposed approaches.
