The Different Development Of Data Journalism In Chinese New Media-

In recent years, data journalism is hot all over the world.Domestic and foreign media join in the team of it and academic researches on it also show a trend of blowout.In China, new media gradually grows into the fresh troop of data journalism with its advantages. Sina, which has pure Internet gene and has an earlier attempt on data journalism in China, and The Paper,a hybrid new media transformed from traditional one,have embarked on a journey of exploring data journalism. All roads lead to Rome. The two media represent different trials on data journalism. This article selects the most representative data journalism column of each other-- "Tujietianxia" and "Huabianshuju" as the research object, and analyses them from six angles-- the topic categories, data sources, data application, data visualization, interaction degree and release cycle. The study turns out that the two columns have different features. One is dynamic and humorous, the other is static and serious. But there are some common points between them. From the results, it seems that in the era of media converge, data journalism is not only one of the main business directions, but also provides a new opportunity to traditional media on defeating new media in the competition. Meanwhile, as the main strength of data journalism practice, new media should not feel self-satisfied and stop making progress. At present, domestic new media has made some achievements on data journalism.However,there are still lots of problems compared with forein media. So, the author believes that all the problems could be solved by reforming the journalism education,strengthening new media's team construction, and trying to avoid some wrong concepts and improper operations.
