The technology of 3D measurement can supply the surface of an object completely and veritably, which makes it vital in different fields such as scientific study, biological engineering and industrial manufacturing. The structure- light measurement is a typical method of 3D surface measurement, which has the trait of non-contacting, large measure range, high speed and low request of working condition. In order to promote the accuracy and efficiency of structure-light 3D measurement, this paper studies the encoded structure- light measuring methods of single camera and single projector, including the calibration method of the measuring system and the encoding method of the measurement and the main work is exhibited as the following 3 aspects:1. A new calibrating method is proposed, which uses a point-array calibrating target and a grid projecting pattern. This method accomplishes the calibrations of both camera and projector in the same calibrating target and it achieves the unity of different calibrating coordinate systems, which efficiently enhances the accuracy of the calibration.2. A new measuring method based on direct encoding and Gray encoding is proposed, which encodes every pixel of the projecting pattern by Gray code. This method simulates the incident ray and reflection ray of every point on the object being measured and directly applies the results of both camera and projector calibrations to the 3D recovery. This method improves both the efficiency and accuracy of the structure- light 3D measurement.3. An experimental setup is designed and made, which bases on the direct Gray encoding 3D measuring method. Camera and projector calibration experiments and encoding structure- light 3D measuring experiments were operated through this setup. The results demonstrated the accuracy and feasibility of the calibrating method and the direct Gray encoding 3D measuring method ultimately.
