With the mass production of dripping pills,the producers put forward higher requirements on the pill hardness testing in practical application. According to the defects of existing instruments on precision and operability, we need to design a new kind of automatic hardness testing device of dripping pills which integrate dripping pills hardness testing, diameter measure with quality analysis functions. Considering the rapid development of controlling technology, designing this instrument has become a reality.The measurement scheme of the system were designed according to the demand of using requirements. Continuous and automatic detection of hardness and diameter must be realize.By analysing the force curve of the compressed dripping pills, we can get the message of the hardness,diameter and analyze quality of the dripping pills.The hardware and software system of the instrument were designed according to the measurement scheme. We choose the suitable scheme of Embedded ARM Development to design a complex system including the motion controlling,data processing and signal sampling,serial communicating, data displaying and printing.Basing on the ARM kernel and the firmware library of stmicroelectronics,we use the concept of modularization to design the function module of relevant parts.By using the platform of Visual Basic on the computer, we realize the function of data communication,preservation and visualization.After collecting the data of the The broken curve about the dripping pills,this were used to evaluate the quality of dipping pills on the Fuzzy Clustering Analysis method by the powerful tools of Matlab. Finally,we proposed an assessment method of quality classification about dripping pills.
