Nowadays embedded systems are widely used in many fields. At the same timeembedded software is becoming more and more complicated, especially applied inthe domains of aerospace and military which are seriously concern with real-timeand reliability. When the control software is being designed and developed, thesoftware should ensure the system's control logic and function accuracy, fulfill thesystem's timing sequence seriously, integrate reliability design into the software.There are many questions of traditional software development methods, suchas the processes of analysis and design are disconnect with the processes of codingand testing; the process of coding is manually completed, it is easy to makemistakes; it is hard to reuse module and so on.MDD (Model–Driven Development) is a method of software developmentwhich has come into being in recent years. MDD regards model as the unifieddescribing method of the software development, using graphical model to describethe system is easy to understand the system's function; using special tools toachieve the code automatically. This method improves the efficiency of softwaredevelopment and enhances the reliability.When MDD is used in embedded systems,there is not a set of graphical model to describe system's properties of reliabilityand real-time.The main of this paper is using meta-model technology to establish aset of graphical model to fulfill system's real-time, reliability and function. First,the feasibility analysis of developing embedded system by using the model-drivenmethod to fulfill the system's properties of reliability and real-time; then, theconstruction of graphical model about real-time and reliability; on this basis,building the graphical meta-model which meets real-time and reliability and theembedded application platform for the hexapod robot, and then the effect is analyzed.
