Given the curriculum reform,the concept of inquiry teaching has been deepened into the physics teaching in the senior high school.The physics course of senior high school is designed to help students to know,understand and construct the physical law of nature from the perspective of physics,to guide students to experience the process of scientific inquiry,to experience the method of scientific inquiry,and to form the habit of scientific thinking.Nowadays,the talents are trained not only to master knowledge,but also to have the ability to deal with practical problems.STSE education’s main idea is to create a real social environment for students,and to integrate the current social development,environmental protection and other scientific knowledge and skills that students need to learn into their daily life.What’s more,STSE education has changed the role of teachers and students in traditional education.Students become the seekers of knowledge,and creating problem situations can stimulate students’ interest and thirst for knowledge.Based on the investigation of the current practice of inquiry teaching,it is found that some problems still exist notwithstanding its achievements.Combined with the corresponding educational theory,the principles,methods and strategies of inquiry teaching are put forward,based on the STSE context.First of all,through consulting a large number of literature,the development of inquiry teaching and STSE education is expounded,with the related concepts of inquiry teaching and the theoretical basis of inquiry teaching in the context of STSE defined.On such basis,the inquiry teaching based on STSE is investigated by questionnaire.Finally,it is concluded that there are some problems,with the formalization of inquiring teaching in senior high school,the lack of teachers’ understanding of inquiry teaching,the weak consciousness of students’ participation,the incomplete understanding of the effectiveness of inquiry teaching,and the lack of comprehensive curriculum resources included.In the light of the problems in the survey,constructivism,meaningful learning theory,and cognitive theory are taken as the foundation to put forward several sources of inquiry teaching resources.Referring to the requirements of high school physics curriculum standards for inquiry teaching and the requirements of STSE education,the principles of inquiry teaching has been summarized based on STSE.Under the guidance of teaching principles,according to the difficulty of teaching situation and the degree of students’ participation,two teaching design are purposed,an inquiry-based instructional design based on the development of science and technology and an inquiry-based instructional design based on social life.According to the corresponding chapters of the textbook,some materials on the development of science and technology and social life are listed.Finally,the teaching cases under the two teaching design are shown and analyzed.
