In the world of economic globalization era,English as the main international language has increasingly become more and more important both in local and global contexts.Basic education reform has paid more and more attention to reform English curriculum and aims to foster students' comprehensive qualities of English and communicative competences.It's obvious that reading class is the most important part of English teaching in senior high school and the basic course to acquire basic knowledge of English and to develop students' communicative competences and abilities of using effective learning strategies.As a result,how to teach English reading effectively has become an urgent problem and issue that the teachers desire to solve.Dynamic Generative Teaching is an important teaching idea and teaching method proposed by new curriculum reform,this study tries to bring this theory into English reading teaching and improve the teaching effectiveness in senior high school.This study aims to solve the following questions: 1)Are there any problems or deficiencies exiting in the present English reading teaching in senior high school? And what are they? 2)What should we do to solve these problems based on the Dynamic Generative Teaching Theory? 3)How do teachers utilize the Dynamic Generative Teaching Model to organize reading class?By means of questionnaire for students and interview for teachers,this study investigates the current status of English reading teaching in senior high school and finds that there are some problems in current reading teaching: 1)Students always meet some difficulties in reading learning,especially unable to use the appropriate methods to deal with reading texts,understand the long sentences structure and increase reading speed;2)Students have poor knowledge and abilities to use reading strategies;3)The teachers mainly focus on explaining the fundamental knowledge of grammar points and vocabularies rather than training students' reading strategies and skills;4)Some teachers mainly rely on their experience to design reading class through mechanical and inflexible "translating-explaining" teaching model which limits students' subjectivity.In order to solve these problems in current reading teaching,this study tries to construct a new reading teaching model – the SIPO Model – based on the DynamicGenerative Teaching Theory.By carrying out an action research,this study finds that the model would make significance on: 1)enhancing students' interests and making them participate in the reading classroom activities more actively;2)fostering students' reading strategies and developing their comprehensive language competences;3)cultivating students' abilities of cooperative learning.Besides,this study concludes the experience in practical teaching during the action research,which hopes to provide some valuable suggestions for teachers to utilize the model to design and organize the reading classroom activities effectively.
