| School effectiveness research is an educational research that began to develop in the mid and late 1960 s.It originated from the United States and it has developed for half a century long.Nowadays,this research has developed into a well-known research field that is widely concerned by scholars all around the world.The British government has always attached great importance to education.As one of the earliest countries to study the educational effectiveness and school improvement,its long research history deserves review and study.This paper is mainly based on the introduction of social background and education reform.It also analyzes and researches on the development of school effectiveness research in each period of the UK from the three dimensions —— research subject,research content and research method.It aims to find the development trajectory of school effectiveness research in the UK,which will provide China with real experience in the development of school effectiveness research.There were four chapters in this thesis.Chapter 1 was the introductory part,mainly expounded the reason and significance of the study,the purpose and content of the study,literature review,research thoughts and research methods.Chapter 2 was the construction of the analytical framework for the educational effectiveness and school improvement research in the UK.This chapter started from the perspective of necessity,defined the relevant concepts,and discussed the theoretical basis and the construction of the analytical framework for the educational effectiveness and school improvement research,laying down the foundation for subsequent research and analysis.Chapter 3 was an important and main part of the thesis,which was to analyze the three different stages of the research history of educational effectiveness and school improvement in the UK.In the "effective school research period",the historical background of Britain in the 1950 s and 1960 s was mainly explored and studied.From the research subject,content and method level,we introduced and evaluated the development of effective school research period.The “educational effectiveness and school improvement research period” mainly introduced the educational expectations and existing social backgrounds that existed extensively in the society from the mid-1980 s to the mid-1990 s in England.The differences between school improvement and school effectiveness were analyzed,and the differences were found.Based on the combination of the two,we introduced from the three aspects of practice,theory and method aspects,and analyze the critique and enlightenment of school effectiveness research during this period.The “transnational effective school improvement research period” examined the education reforms and social development background from the mid-1990 s to the present,dissected and analyzed the obstacles to the study of school effectiveness in the mid-1990 s.It specifically discussed why the research on school effectiveness and school improvement should be integrated and internationalized.It also introduced and developed the expectations and research hotspots for future school effectiveness research.Chapter 4 mainly reviewed the whole process of school effectiveness research in the UK.From the four dimensions of research background,research subjects,research content and research methods,the history and development direction of educational effectiveness and school improvement research were described,and the lessons we can draw from the study of the effectiveness of education in the UK are summarized. |
