Research On Social Support For Elderly People In Affordable Housing Community

Recently,the aging of population has attracted more attention.Because of body function degeneration,their activity of daily living decreases,which leading them weak position in social activity.Through years of continuous development of economy,a new social system called affordable housing community occurs during urbanization,which guarantees living of the low-income aged.However,people living in security housing system facing many problems to come over,and need to be assisted.In order to analyze the social support of the elderly in the affordable housing community,this paper is based on the empirical data of the K community in Nanjing.Firstly,what is the status of social support for the elderly in affordable housing community,and what is the main policies.Secondly,what is the main reason leading this kind of condition.What kind of requirements has got satisfied?This research is based on social support status of the elderly in affordable housing community,putting forward the idea and strategy of social work.This research is of significance in social policies.Guided by the social support theory,summarization of the previous social support research.This study mainly analyzed the status of social support of the elderly in affordable housing community from the mental and economy aspects.This research adopts qualitative methods,choosing affordable housing community elderly,normal elderly,community staff,etc.to take the half structured interview.Based on relative literature,this research was used to understand the social support satisfaction of the elderly in affordable housing community as well as their current demanding.This paper finds that the social support of the elderly in affordable housing community is weakened.The material support between different individuals is significant while the mode is single.Mental support has individual cognitive imbalance,family support is weak as well as community support is vacant;Support is still dominated by family care.However,the causes of the weakening of social support are related to the lack of attention of the government,social resources,and social ability.This article analyze the cause of weaken social support from many aspects.Based on professional analysis.This paper puts forward the thinking of the social work intervention and strategy.Therefore,the following Suggestions are summarized:Firstly,building a platform with the help of government is necessary.Secondly,improving the professional competence of elderly service.Last but not least,helping old people to establish active consciousness by social worker assistance.Establish different scheme for different individuals,which meets the need for most elder people.
