According to the preexisting game theory at home and abroad,the game is closely related to the development of human beings and social culture.Game plays an essential part in children's life.For primary school students whose focus is on study,the game is indispensable in that it can promote the friendship between peers,enhance social skills learning and adjust physical.and mental status.In addition,the leisure nature of the game is a vital factor in the quality of life in the future.The game,therefore,plays a crucial part in the pupils' all-round development in view of both current individual socialization and individual's life quality itself.The present study looks into the current situation of students playing game during the break in the low,middle and high grades of W Primary School in Fujian,Fuzhou.First,the study searches and collects the previous theoretical research results of "game" and"activities during the break" and "game during the break" with the literature method.Then,it adopts the method of qualitative research by means of questionnaires concerning pupils'activities during the break and interviews with school authorities,teachers,parents and students themselves.From the above process,the study comes to the conclusion that pupils' games during the break have disadvantages in terms of material,system and spirit.Naturally,it puts forward some strategies to enhance the current situation of pupils' game during the break.Finally,the following conclusions are drawn from this study:1.No guarantee for the pupils' break.The prolonged class session and extracurricular assignment from the parents take up the originally abundant break time.2.Limited playtime space.Pupils are confined to the classrooms and the surrounding area.3.Absence of game safety education.The school gives more theoretical safety education than the practical self-defense guidance.4.Lack of guidance for the correct game concept.Teachers' and parents' ignorance the significance of leisure and guidance for the game concept result in some students'misleading concept concerning the meaning and value of activities during the break.5.The type of pupils' games during break varies.In terms of grade,low and middle grade pupils mainly focus on sports;fewer high grade pupils take part in games during the break with more pupils playing puzzle games inside the classroom.In terms of gender,boys play more physical activities than girls.6.The popularity of nursery rhymes,songs and other folk games decreases.With each growing age,the folk games account for a less proportion.7.The paper explores the characteristics and causes of the pupils' activities during the break in terms of material,system and spirit,and puts forward some strategies to construct the proper form of pupils' activities during break.
