With the development of national economic and culture, the proportion of the sports consumption in the residents' consumption is growing bigger and bigger. And sports consumption is gradually becoming a new consumption growth point in our domestic economic. In the policy environment of developing sports industry and promoting sports consumption in our country, the study of residents' sports consumption structure is not only a hot issue, meanwhile,it also has great significance to the government's adjustment in the sports industry structure. This paper combs the relevant literatures on sports consumption connotation and the structure of sports consumption. And it draws some lessons from other scholars who use ELES model to study the residents' consumption structure. This paper divides sports consumption into six categories:gymnasium fitness consumption, sports apparel consumption, sports newspapers and magazines consumption, sports competition tickets consumption, sports equipment consumption and sports lottery consumption. On this basis, this paper then conducts the ELES model of residents' sports consumption structure, and designs the questionnaire of residents'income and six categories of sports consumption expenditure. And the questionnaire survey on the sports consumption of first-tier cities and partial second-tier cities in China was carried out.The surveys on the sports consumption of urban residents in four first-tier cities which refer to Beijing,Shanghai,Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and the second-tier cities which refer to Tianjin,Chongqing,Suzhou and Wuhan, whose GDP is higher than the other second-tier cities in 2015 were conducted by using a combination of online-survey and offline-survey.The survey issued a total of 1283 copies of the questionnaire,in which 400 copies were issued under the line, and 883 online. After the effective selection, the final effective number of the questionnaires was 1196,which made the rate of the effective questionnaire reach 95.5%.And the structure of sample structure was reasonable. After collecting the questionnaires and processing data, the EVIEWS and SPSS software were used to construct ELES model and study the residents' sports consumption structure of first-tier cities and second-tier cities in China. This paper analyzes the present situation of residents' sports consumption structure of first-tier citiesand second-tier cities from the four perspectives:basic sports consumption demand, marginal consumption tendency, demand elasticity of income and demand elasticity of price, and compares the residents' sports consumption structure of first-tier cities and second-tier cities. The main conclusions are as follows:The residents' sports consumption structure of first-tier cities and second-tier cities in our country shows a feature that material consumption accounts for a large proportion of sports consumption, compared to first-tier cities,second-tier cities' consumption on material is higher;the first-tier cities' residents show stronger willingness on sports competition tickets consumption, and the second-tier cities' residents show stronger willingness on gymnasium fitness consumption;Second-tier cities residents' demand elasticity of income is greater than the first-tier cities in gymnasium fitness consumption, sports apparel consumption, sports competition tickets consumption and sports equipment consumption, indicating that the effect of second-tier cities' income level is greater than that of first-tier cities;the self-price elasticity of first-tier cities and second-tier cities' sports apparel consumption are the lowest, indicating that sports apparel consumption show certain rigid demand,at the same time, the cross price elasticity of sports apparel consumption and other sports consumption are larger, indicating that the price of sports apparels has a great effect on other sports consumer demand.
