Since the Chinese economic reform begins,China's economy has entered the fast growth lane. From 1978 to 2017,China's average annual nominal GDP growth rate reached 14.5%.The domestic economic structure has gone through tremendous changes. The proportion of secondary and tertiary industries has been increasing and reached 40.5%and 51.6%respectively in 2017.The disposable income of residents has been increasing and the slogan of consumption upgrading has been well known. What's more, the rapid industrialization and modernization have also led to dramatic changes in society. The urbanization rate is rising, and the speed of migration is also increasing year by year. However, new problems such as income gap between urban and rural areas, differences in consumption structure and the living conditions of floating population are still growing.Based on the data of CHIP(China Family Income Survey)2013 which was conducted by National Bureau of Statistics's Agricultural Survey Team and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, this paper uses the ELES linear expenditure model to analyze the differences in consumption structure, basic consumption demand, marginal propensity to consume, income elasticity and self-price elasticity among urban residents, rural residents and floating population. The main innovations of this paper are as follows:firstly, the whole research is carried out by using CHIP(China Family Income Survey)data.Previous articles on consumption structure mostly use the data of per capita income and expenditure of the National Bureau of Statistics to do empirical research on time series data.Secondly, this paper creatively chooses to explore the effect of labor security conditions enjoyed by residents on urban residents and floating population. The impact of fee structure on the consumption structure of residents is far-reaching as an important part of the occupational life of residents, compared with the related factors such as social security, population structure and house price, which have been studied more in domestic literature. In addition, for the first time, this paper draws the conclusion that labor security conditions have a negative impact on different consumption expenditures of urban residents, and have a positive impact on the consumption of household goods, services and transportation and communication of the floating population, but have no significant impact on the consumption expenditures of food, tobacco, alcohol, housing, clothing and education, culture and entertainment.
