| Reading is one of the four core skills of English learning,and it plays an important part in English learning.English New Curriculum Standard emphasized the importance of English reading,and in recent years,the college entrance examination has been increasing the testing of the students’ ability of reading comprehension and comprehensive abilities of English learning;however,most of the English teachers are deeply influenced by the traditional teaching methods,and the classes are depressive and boring,which impact on the enthusiasm and reading effects of the students.Mind Map is a visualization tool of knowledge representation,and it is the external manifestation of the human mind.Its key words,images,colors,symbols and other elements can simultaneously stimulate human’s left and right brain,as well as improve people’s memory,intelligence and creativity.By taking FLTARP English of senior high as an example and starting with the genre of article,this paper applies Mind Map as a teaching aid to the reading teaching of English exposition,narration and argumentation.By taking genre as the breakthrough point,it aims at testing whether the Mind Map can stimulate the students’ interest of reading and improve the students’ abilities of reading comprehension and elaborative faculty.This study selected two science classes of Grade One in X Senior High School of Harbin as experimental objects,and the experiment lasted for four months.The study adopted methods of document research,questionnaire investigation,experimentation and testing,and it mainly includes the following contents: by consulting relevant literature,the author illustrated the related concepts of Mind Map and English reading,summarized the research status at home and abroad,and analyzed the feasibility of applying the Mind Map in English reading teaching in senior high school;taking genre as the breakthrough point and combining the characteristics of English teaching material of senior high school,the author designed the Mind Map models of English exposition,narration and argumentation,designed the teaching steps and gave the teaching cases as well;Mind Map was applied in English reading teaching of experimental class,but it didn’t participate in the English reading teaching of comparative class;by using SPSS22.0 software,the author processed and analyzed the questionnaire data and reading test data of the experimental class and comparative class,and then came to a conclusion.The innovation of the study can be divided into two aspects.On one hand,this study applied Mind Map in the teaching of English argumentation;on the other hand,the design of the Mind Map models is fire-new.The experimental results show that the effect of Mind Map applying to senior high school is favorable.It embodied the teaching principle of taking the students as the center of the class and it inspired the students’ reading interest and improved the students’ abilities of reading and comprehension and it improved the students’ elaborative faculty as well. |
