Chinese curriculum standards for compulsory education(2011 edition)point out that: we should pay attention to cultivating students' extensive interest in reading,expand the scope of extracurricular reading,and ensure students' extracurricular reading.With the increasing number of migrant children in Guangzhou city,the quality of their education has become a focus of attention.Extracurricular reading is of great concern to the comprehensive quality and academic performance of students,while the extracurricular reading level of the children of migrant workers in cities is lower than that of local students in Guangzhou.This study selects the children of migrant workers in S middle school of Guangzhou as the main research object and the local students with household registration in Guangzhou as the auxiliary research object,aiming to study the problems existing in the extracurricular reading of migrant workers' children in urban areas of Guangzhou public middle school,and make attribution analysis and propose countermeasures for the problems.According to the requirements of Chinese curriculum standards 2011 edition of the ministry of education on extracurricular reading of middle school students,the questionnaire on extracurricular reading of middle school students was compiled and tested for its reliability and validity.Questionnaire main part around the extracurricular reading cognition,extracurricular reading habits and preferences,extracurricular reading time and frequency,the number of extracurricular reading and extracurricular reading environment,types of extracurricular reading bibliography and categories,extracurricular reading attitude and purpose,the parents' support,the collection of home and the ten different dimensions under the guidance of teachers to conduct research.Different questions were designed according to different dimensions to form the student questionnaire of this survey,and the interview outline was listed according to the survey results.Some migrant children,migrant workers and front-line Chinese teachers or class teachers were selected to conduct interviews.To adopt the research method of combination of questionnaire and interview with the variables of the samples back to Excel and SPSS statistical tools,such as the related do descriptive statistical analysis,correlation analysis,sample variables to draw a trailing offspring extracurricular reading mainly exist the following problems: shortage of extracurricular reading time,extra-curricular reading couldn't keep up with.Extracurricular reading did not take notes and share communication,did not form a good reading habit;The single form of extracurricular reading affects students' extracurricular reading interest,and the school's book resources and network platform cannot keep up with it.The parents' guidance ability is weak,the students cannot get the standard guidance from the parents and teachers;Compared with local students,children of migrant workers have lower extracurricular reading ability and narrower reading area.This study found that the main reason was the weak binding force and the lack of extracurricular reading habits.Too few opportunities for extracurricular reading experience and communication;Exam-oriented education is too heavy,the academic busy no time for extracurricular reading;The form of extracurricular reading class is monotonous and boring,lacking of extracurricular reading interest;The lack of family cultural capital,the lack of extracurricular reading resources,the weak awareness of parents,the deficiency of educational ideas;The extracurricular reading of migrant children is influenced by short videos,network multimedia and so on.In order to improve the current situation,the paper puts forward the following improvement strategies: cultivate good extracurricular reading interest and attitude,guide the children to develop good extracurricular reading habits;Carry out a series of extra-curricular reading activities,attach importance to extra-curricular reading classes,and improve the afterclass reading interest of the children of migrant workers;Teachers should attach importance to extra-curricular reading,reading in different levels,and guide students in different grades to read different Numbers and types of books.To enrich the school extracurricular reading class,extracurricular reading content and diversified ways,through the development of a variety of extracurricular reading activities,to improve students' interest in reading.Finally,promote the construction of library "Internet + campus students' reading platform",so that extracurricular reading classes are no longer fixed in paper reading.
