The Research On The Development Of University Student Organizations Based On Social Network Analysis

The university student organization is always an indispensable part of Ordinary Colleges.Formerly to university student organization's research many took the university superintendent angle of view,which discuss the superficial problems during the development of university student organizations and put forward some relevant theoretical proposals.And most research lay emphasis on the description of the current situation,rarely could go deep into the internal organization structure to explore associations in the running condition,lack deep data support,make less researchs on the organization development process.This research utilize the Social Network Analysis and Qualitative Research Interview,use method combine with the quantification research and qualitative research,and take the organizational structure as the breach.Aim to explore how university student organizations could help students promote their comprehensive quality,and how to implement the concept of talent cultivation of higher education.In quantitative research,all the members of the three student organizations were asked to complete the nominated questionnaire.Then used UcInet 6.594 to analysis the results of the nominated questionnaire.Draw the following conclusions:(1)In functional organizations,each department "gathers",while,"split" exists between the departments,but not in interesting organizations.(2)The social network density,average distance among members,and the cohesion would be influenced by the character and scale of organizations.(3)There are some important relations among networks,which mostly belong to leaders and could control the information flow.(4)The form of sub-groups in organizations is multiple,more stable the group,the less the number of members.(5)There are "key members" in all kinds of networks,which have more important influence on other members.The quantitative research directly showed the characteristics of the network of student organizations,provided the objective support for researchs in higher education.In qualitative research,13 members were chosen to complete the qualitative interview.Then used Nvivo11 to code the interview materials.The results clearly show the interaction between the members and organization.The researcher got the interrelationship between “members to members”,“members to organizations” and“organizations to members”.Qualitative research enriched the results of the quantitative research,and profoundly to explore how organizations could implement the concept of talent cultivation of higher education.At last,combine with the results of the quantitative research and qualitative research,make some recommendations and development strategies from the social network view.
