Research On Design Of Courses Improving Primary Students’ Autonomous English Learning Abilities

Abstract/Summary:
Chinese and foreign scholars have initiated researches on cultivation of independent learning ability improvement of independent learning awareness of students majoring in English since 1980 s.English proficiency standards of compulsory education are put forward as English teaching objectives.The standards aim to trigger students’ interest in learning English and improve their ability in learning English.English classes stress on knowledge accumulation of knowledge and improvement of English skills.To improve English teaching quality of primary schools,English classes should follow the principle of sustainable development and integrate listening,reading,writing,painting,singing and performing into a single whole.Sustainable English classes can not only trigger students’ interest in future English learning but also lay a solid foundation for their life-long learning.Over the period from 2006 to October,2016,more and more scholars participate in researches on Independent English learning,including fundamental researches about independent learning theory,independent learning mechanism,independent learning evaluation.At the same time,there are also researches on independent English learning of pupils,junior middle school students,high middle school students,college students,and vocational school students.This paper aims to find out a suitable class pattern to improve independent learning ability of pupils in Grade 5 during the English learning process by the author’s personal experience.It intends to communication happiness of English classes to students,improve their learning performance,promote their sustainable development in subsequent English learning,trigger students’ learning interest,and strengthening their teamwork awareness.In addition,this paper also strives to find an effective way for elementary English teaching.This paper includes 4 parts.The first part introduces researches on current Chinese independent learning theory by defining independent learning of elementary English and analyzing its advantages.The second part provides well-targeted plans,including plans about independent English learning,design forces,class activities,and other dimensions.The third part analyzes English teaching of Grade 5 in Dongguang Century Primary School,the school where I work.It also summarizes the author’s practical experience in improving independent learning ability of students,so as to put class scenes to this paper for further discussion.The last part discusses evaluation mechanism of class design,hoping to eliminate deficiencies of current class designs.
