The standard of the normal English course in senior high school points out that the keynote of English teaching in senior high school is to improve the ability of English reading.Thus,English reading ability is the most important part in the English teaching.The new curriculum suggests that teaching should show the idea of “The Unity of Teachers' Leading Role in Teaching and the Students' Role as Main body in learning”,and focus on improving the ability of students.However,in many schools,classes remain the situation that teachers speak too much,resulting in the less enthusiasm of the students,and leading to the fact that many students do not want to learn English.All the things affect the New curriculum reform and the development.As a result,how to build the new teaching methods of English reading to change the former teaching model and to promote the initiative of the students' study becomes a problem that needs to be solved.In this research,the Etuoke banner middle school in which the author worked has utilized the guided learning plan since 2012.This study on the English reading practice used the guided learning plan has lasted for 21 weeks.The purpose of this research is to validate whether this model can adapt to the English reading teaching and improve the reading ability of the senior high school students efficiently.The subjects were senior two high school students of class 274 and 275 in Etuoke banner middle school.Class 274 was taken as experimental class where the writer applied guided learning plan teachingmodel to teach English reading.Class 275 was control class where the traditional way of reading teaching was still employed.The adopted instruments are questionnaire,interview and experiment.After the experiment,the author used interview to get a few additional explanations for the data.From the analysis experiment data,the conclusions can be drawn that guided learning plan teaching model is indeed an effective teaching model,its implement really can enhance students' reading capacity and improve the senior high school students' interests in English reading.
