Through implementing regular services like half past four class and various parent-child activities in M Community Service Center,the author has found in M community it is not an uncommon problem that there are communication barriers between parents and their children.Based on the documents and data collected in the community,we found one of the causes of the problem existing in parent-child communication within two-earner family is the superficiality of the communications.The way the parents and children express their emotions is usually simple,rough and tough.Parents pay much attention to the children’s academic performance,and neglect to develop the communication ability.Based on the situations above,the author carried out parent-child emotion expression activities.By participating activities,the parents can learn how to communicate with their children with love as well as how to avoid inappropriate way of expressing of feelings.With the theme “learning Five Languages of Love",we set up 6 group activities to learn and experience the emotional expression skills of love,aiming to improve parent-child interaction and emotional expression skills.By setting up a parent-child interaction and emotional expression platform for parents to learn emotional expression skills we can achieve the group goals.Each and every activity is tied with one another and closely focused on the theme.In the initial stage,the main purpose is to establish group relationships and standard.The group members should know about each other and the content,purpose and significance of the activity.Then,they learn about "Five Languages of Love",by which group members can know the importance of the appropriate emotional expression in a parent-child communication and learn the application and effect of "Five Languages of Love" preliminarily.This activity also develops positive communication consciousness of participants.In the middle stage,participants practice,experience and appreciate the five languages of love through a variety of interactive games and activities.In the final stage,we will check participants’ acquisition of parent-child emotional expression skills,and end the activity by reviewing and evaluating.The result shows that the parent-child emotion expression group is effective and helpful in improving the emotional expression skills and parent-child emotional expression skills.It also helped a lot in enhancing team members’ positive communication consciousness.With group goals achieved,the form,contents and social work performance of the group activities are recognized and affirmed by the team members.However,there are shortcomings.The author professionally made reflection on the shortcomings of the activities carried out,and offered some suggestions on improving parent-child communication work.
