Since the 1900 s,many countries and areas in the world carried out a series of education reform and work out the corresponding curriculum reform plan in order to meet the requirement of personnel training in the 21 st century.The area of Taiwan started to carry out basic education curriculum reform in 1994,China began to implement a new round of curriculum reform in 2001.In this series of reform process,whether from the aspects of teaching,or from the curriculum,the history of the subject has undergone great changes compared with the previous.In the history curriculum reform,the media which can directly reflect the above changes is undoubtedly the history textbook of the link between teachers and students in the teaching process.Along with the continuous development of historical comparative education in recent years,more and more scholars have studied about the comparison of historical textbooks.But the comparison analysis research about the high school history textbooks between mainland China and Taiwan area is relatively small,and most of them are from the macro level(i.e.,a complete layout and design of the whole textbook)were studied,for the micro level(i.e.,a certain class of layout and design of the textbook)the comparative study is rarely involved.In order to better guide the teachers and students in the teaching process,more reasonable use of history textbooks,the paper based on the most widely used high school history textbooks in China published by People's Education Press and in Taiwan published by San Min Book Co.,Ltd as blueprint,select the Revolution of 1911 which is an important historical eve in the history of modern China as an example to make a comparison and analysis.The paper includes the following five parts.The first part is the introduction,which is the purpose of this paper,the research status of the comparative study of history textbook,the main contents of the study of history and the research methods used in writing papers.The second part is a programmatic document to guide the both sides of the high school history textbook,that is to compare the curriculum objectives and content standards between the curriculum standardsof mainland andthe curriculum outline of Taiwan.The third part is from a macro perspective,compares and analyzes the overall arrangement and writing style of the high school history compulsory textbook between themainland's People's Education Edition and Taiwan's San Min Edition.The fourth part focus on the micro perspective,from the text system of the Revolution of 1911(including content arrangement,item set,and the selection and expression of knowledge points)and the auxiliary system of the texts(including pre-class notes,text charts,text notes,text questions and exercises)to compare the two aspects to explore the two versions of the textbook about the layout and design differences.The fifth part through the comparison of the two versions of textbooks,analysis the advantages and disadvantages of the layout and design of each version,and provides the relevant suggestions for the more rational use of the textbook in the teaching process of the Revolution of 1911.The last part is the conclusion.
