| This paper explores the effect of workplace characteristic on user’s satisfaction and perceived productivity.The physical workplace layout has been studied as one of the popular strategies to increase work performance in a general organization.This workplace strategy was proved in academic and corporate real estate terms by describing that space can support users’ work performance through increase efficiency and satisfaction.Perceived productivity in workplace affects work efficiency as well as the satisfaction.To adapt this piece of information to the academic workplace development,there are few questions which have been asked in order to generate the professional practices for increasing user’s work performance,perceived productivity and satisfaction.(1)Does the design of studied-workplace affect user’s productivity and satisfaction?(2)Which indicators is the most effective instrument to drive user’s satisfaction and perceived productivity.The study categorized various types of workplace layout that is already existed.Future Internet and Technology Research Center or FIT Building was chosen because of the similarity on typical user profile and the apparent characteristic of workplace design,in which,combination workplace and Flexible workplace were classified and investigated in this research as well.Furthermore,this research also includes the study on public space usage.Under the result evaluation,the architectural function analysis and the quantitative questionnaire were created based on the preliminary observation and informal interview.Data were collected and analyzed using SPSS descriptive statistics,crosstab and One-way ANOVA test.The result of the findings shows that there is no significance between(1)workplace layout and satisfaction,(2)workplace layout and ability to focus,(3)workplace layout and overall task performance and(4)workplace layout and individual task performance.On the other hand,the rest of the result illustrated that there is significance between(1)workplace layout and ability to collaboration,(2)workplace layout and group task performance and(3)workplace area ratio and ability to focus.In public space study,the report presented that accessibility from main area to the public space has an effect on the participant’s usage.In conclusion,workplace design in FIT Building can be recognized as the important indicator which affects the user’s perceived productivity,specifically the ability to collaborate.This result was related to the function analysis concept which presents the collaboration and networking atmosphere support.Additionally,there is a moderate level of relationship value between group task performance score and FIT Building workplace.In contrast,the overall workstation ratio is explained as the measurement factor of the ability to focus.Lastly,workplace user who has the size of workstation between 16-20 m2 /person is proved to be the most satisfied user. |
