Presentation activities are process of perception,comprehension and experience to the new knowledge for students.And the arrangement of presentation activities has a great influence on teaching efficiency in class.Since the 1970 s,many language teaching researchers have gradually turned their attention to the presentation of language classes.And recently,with the approach of new English curriculum innovation,the presentation attracted the attention of audience again.However,teaching researches at home and abroad both focused on the methods of presentation,which caused their monotonous research content.Therefore,the theoretical research of presentation activities is imperfect.As a consequence,it has great influence on the research of presentation activities from many areas.In addition,there are numerous problems in existence in presentation of practical English class as following.Some teachers used to do presentation without practical language context.And they often ignore the influence of old knowledge during presentation of new material.They could not control the duration of presentation in appropriate range.And some teachers could not arouse students' enthusiasm of study and so on.As a result,researches on high-quality English presentation activities in junior middle school with the classroom observation,explores its characteristics,in order to provide suggestions for normal class English teaching,it has great practical significance.Based on a large amount of bibliography,the author chooses the teaching videos of twelve English classes in The Eleventh National Junior High School English Demonstration Lessons as samples of the research,takes the classroom observation as the major research method,teacher and students as research dimensionality,and the teacher's teaching and students' studying as the main observation angle.In addition,the author takes the teaching methods of presentation,the teaching means of presentation,the duration of presentation,the types of students' study activities and the achievements of the goal of presentation as the main observation points.Based on these five observation points,in order to observe and record samples carefully,the author makes the observation scale ofpresentation activities of new material of high quality classes in junior high schools.For the sake of classifying and sorting related statistics,the author takes advantage of the statistical table of teaching methods of presentation of new materials and the statistical table of teaching means of presentation of new materials and so on.Based on the constructivism and meaningful learning theory,the author summarizes the characteristics of presentation activities in high-quality classes in junior high schools,and provides guidance suggestions for Junior high school English teaching.The research conclusions are as the follows: High quality classes' teachers have abundant teaching methods.And the teaching means of multimedia are used more than non-multimedia.Next,there are many different kinds of students' study activities in presentation activities.Furthermore,the duration of presentation is reasonable.Finally,the achievement of the goal of presentation is favorable in high quality class.In view of the above research conclusions,this paper recommends that junior high school English teachers should pay attention to choose teaching methods flexible.And they can give consideration to both multimedia and non-multimedia teaching means.Next,they should arrange students' study activities properly and guarantee moderate duration of Presentation.Finally,teachers should design achievement of the goal of presentation integrally,and lay emphasis on its hierarchy.
