With the development of the new curriculum reform,teachers begin to broaden their mind and innovative their teaching methods.Teaching through the game is based on the game teaching theory.The purpose of it is to practice the students' English pragmatic competence and develop the students' language potential.Teaching through the game is a totally new English teaching methodology which advocates carrying out class activities according to the teaching design step by step.It has special meanings both in education and entertainment,competition and challenge.Teachers are supposed to change the simple boring form of English teaching,and create a communicative situation,so that the students can acquire language knowledge and skills in a more pleasant atmosphere.Literature research,questionnaires,case studies,action studies and interviews are used in this research.On the basis of the theory both from domestic and foreign,this research also combined with the level of physical and psychological development of the pupils and the primary school teaching content,designing different teaching games for different types of English class.The six-grade students in Kunshan Yufeng Experimental School are chosen to be the subjects to experience teaching through games.This paper is also to explore the feasibility of teaching through games in primary school English teaching,and provide reference for further research on others.It finds out that teaching through games can stimulate students' enthusiasm and interest in learning English;it can also strengthen the interaction between teachers and students;at the same time,it can improve the teaching design ability of teachers and enrich the way of primary English teaching methods.Based on the author's primary English teaching practice,this paper draws the research suggestions of "Full participation","Appropriate input","Innovative diversification” and"Timely evaluation".
