Education is a fundamental task crucial for generations to come. During the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the satisfaction of people was raised as the essential goal on education development, to realize which relies on excellent teachers with all-round personality. Therefore, further education for teachers shows particular importance, in which in-service education has drawn wide concern.Based on extensive relevant articles, this thesis first stated theory of adult study,teacher professional development content and its conducting significance to teachers'in-service education. Second, targeting at one of the first schemed model senior high schools---S High School, this thesis investigated in-service education situation among teachers through questionnaires and interviews, and summarized the main problems,such as the lack of operating conditions on in-service education plan, the impracticability and impertinency on lessons, the monotonic education model,inaccurate evaluation and loss of motivation. This thesis also analyzed main reasons droving to the problems, for example, barely paid attention to in-service education, lack of financial support and supervision mechanism, and heavy workload for teachers.Third, comparative analysis was put forward on teachers' in-service education in Pudong Shanghai, Guang Zhou and the U.S., the UK and Japan. In those places,in-service education for teachers appears its legislation, management standardization,and model diversification, Content of practical and scientific evaluation.At last, the thesis came up with its countermeasures for teachers' in-service education in S High School. First of all, pay more attention to teachers' in-service education. A detailed plan should be made with a strong consciousness of participation.In the meantime, create a democratic, harmonious, and progressive campus culture.Then, strengthen standardized management and legalized construction. Next, course content needs to be optimized to increase practicability and pertinence. Furthermore,diversified training model should be adopted, such as intensification of both academic education and non-academic education, study of school-based training mode, the popularization of computer network training and the use of resources of institutions of higher learning. Last but not the least, evaluation needs to be diverse and scientific.Meanwhile, do not forget material incentive and spiritual stimulation.
