Application Research On Case Management Intervention With Vulnerable Minors

Under risk society,poverty,disease,unemployment,drug,crime and divorce are generally coming into our daily life,which have negative effect in individual,family,someone related to him/her and society.The vulnerable minors are victi ms of these issues,are whose basic rights,existence and development are threate ned and fail to deal with them by themselves but other external support due to i ndividuals,family or society.For the high risk of their situation,the high difficul t in solving problems and the far-reaching negative effect,the government has rai sed concern about the protection of this group.The social protection projects about vulnerable minors led by the government are carried out in nationwide like a raging fire.Social workers are the service p roviders who help the vulnerable minors out of their difficulties in existence or d evelopment mainly by case work.Social workers of B Social Work Service Cent er in Wuhan represent one of these protectors.They provide service or support f or vulnerable minors with complicated situation by case work,which have reache d some effects but also exist some disadvantages.The writer collected the service data about the protection of vulnerable mino rs of B Social Work Service Center and selected five typical cases to study,incl uding drug abuse of whose guardian,child living in a very poor family,child w ho lose one of parents and the other one give up raising,whose parents divorced and who is deviant in mental and behaviors without guardian or who is deficien cy in IQ.The requirements of these five cases are so complicated and multiple t hat can't be well met only by means of case work.Collecting the information of clients is not enough systematic and the source of it is single;The service cont ents are mainly about temporary material or economic relief,but less focus on d evelopmental multiple needs;Social workers as service providers are based on ca se work and the effect of service is little;The resource system is hard to find or combine and the cooperation between the resources is weak;The clients are abs ent from formulating the service plan and the targets have no sequence;And ter minating the service relationship is based on the service term not the client's req uirements.Depended on case work to protect the vulnerable minors,the current s ocial work service is faced with these problems.The writer did the comparative study between case work and case management by general six-process pattern,fin ding that case management has obvious advantage on protecting the vulnerable m inors with more complicated and multiple needs.In the end,according to the cas e study results and based on case management,the writer did a optimization desi gn of the service model of protecting the vulnerable minors,hoping that it can p rovide the reference for the later service practice.
