Ideological and political theory course as the main channel of ideological and political education of college students, the teaching process is not only the political and theoretical unity, but also should reflect a high degree of practicality. On October 15,2004, the Opinions of the State Council of the CPC Central Committee on "Further Strengthening and Improving the Ideological and Political Education of College Students" (hereinafter referred to as "Opinions") pointed out: "Ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities should be linked to reform and opening up and socialist modernization ".The social hot events as a reflection of the latest trends and recent trends in the objective world, which are the real events that occur in the process of China's reform, opening up and modernization. Its unique nature of Times, universality and conductivity to guide it not only become the focus of attention of contemporary college students, but also is the ideological and political education resources. Therefore,the social hot events as a college ideological and political theory of the excellent "recipe"began to "add" into the classroom in a large number, the ideological and political theory of the school class changed the past "dead"and glow "vitality". But in the course of practice inevitably there are some problems: the social hot events as a college ideological and political theory of the "panacea", without the rational introduction and selection,which greatly reduced its value in the Teaching of Ideological and Political Theory.Therefore, in order to improve the status quo and maximize the realization of its educational value,it is necessary to social hot events in the ideological and political teaching to explore and research the value of itself.This paper is divided into three parts. The first part is the study of the value of social hot events, and discusses in detail the value of ideological and political theory teaching in colleges and universities, and sums up the five aspects of social hot events: the first is to activate teaching content and improve teaching Life; the second is to stimulate the interest of learning and enhance teaching attraction; the third is to link the theory and practice to enhance the teaching affinity; the fourth is to cultivate rational thinking,improve students to distinguish;the fifth is to improve the quality of teachers and promote the professionalism of teacher.The second part is the analysis of the factors that affect the realization of the value of social hot events. These factors include: leaders of ideological and political theory courses, educators, educational objects, social hot events themselves and the media. The third part is based on the previous two parts, from the practical point of the social hot events in the ideological and political theory to discuss the value of the realization of the path: the colleges and universities, teachers, students,social hot events and government and media as a core to build a set of active, systematic and long-term combination of mechanisms.
