Based on the background of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,there are two viewpoints on the debate about the teaching language of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.One is that we should adhere to the principle of target language and avoid using media language;the other is that we should use the media language or native language of learners or other languages.In the primary school of Thailand,Chinese volunteer teachers use the media language or not,using what kind of media language and how to use the media language are the major questions which need to be studied in this paper.So this paper regards the medium of teaching language as an object of our research.Through the way of questionnaire survey,we will investigate the usage of media language in zero-based Chinese class of teaching in primary school of Thailand.This paper mainly carries out the research from the following parts:The first part is the investigation of the usage of media language,including two aspects,on one hand,the topic is about the situation of zero-based Chinese class in the school where I taught;on the other hand,the content is about the questionnaire of how Chinese teachers in Thailand to use the media language in zero-based Chinese class.The investigation shows that most of Chinese teachers use media language,which proves that there is the reality of existence of using media language in zero-based Chinese class of teaching in primary school.The second part summarizes the situation of media language application in Chinese class on this basis of investigation of the usage of media language.The application of media language embodies in three aspects:firstly,Chinese teachers generally support the idea of applying media language or Thai media language into Chinese class;secondly,we will analyze the necessity of the usage of media language;thirdly,we will analyze the reasons of choosing Thai language as media language and the roles of Thai media language in zero-based Chinese class of teaching in primary school.It proves that there are acceptability and necessity of existence of using media language in zero-based Chinese class of teaching in primary school.The last part discusses about the way how to apply Thai media language into zero-based Chinese class of teaching in primary school of Thailand on the basis of empirical analysis which includes questionnaire survey and teaching activity records.Then put forward some advice on how to use Thai media language in Chinese class,in order to solve some problems of teaching Chinese as a second language.Through the investigation and analysis,this paper proves that there are the reality,necessity,acceptability and rationality of existence of using Thai media language in zero-based Chinese class of teaching in primary school.And provide some new ideas about how to use the media language reasonably and effectively for Chinese volunteer teachers.
