Work-study program is an important part of national student-financing system, and the key way to improve the comprehensive qualities of students from poor families.According to the summary and analysis of the existing literature, the studies on the work-study program of students from poor families in private colleges are mainly on qualitative analysis, but less on empirical study and moreover the investigation object is not enough. After summarizing and comparing the questionnaire of the work-study program of students from poor families in college G of Guangzhou,as well as the interviews to the students from poor families, their teachers, their parents and the administrators of the enterprises, this thesis discusses both the issues the students from poor families encountered when participating in work-study programs and its reasons, and then puts forward the corresponding countermeasures to provide theoretical reference to further enhance the participation of the work-study program of students from poor families in Private colleges and the healthy development of fund management work of private colleges. This thesis first defines the concepts of the work-study program, students from poor families, and private colleges. In terms of the study and analysis of the related literature, this thesis sets a questionnaire based on the students' aims and meanings to work-study programs, their participation of the programs, their enthusiasm to the programs, the ways and methods to participate in work-study programs, and student's rights and interests protection, and samples the students from poor families in college G of Guangzhou.Research shows that:1.Some students participate in work-study programs for the purposes of solving the financial troubles, knowing more about society, increasing contacts and helping the employment while others who don't participate in for fear of delaying learning.2.Students participate in work-study programs actively but the participation is not high actually.3.The participation on campus is slightly higher than that off campus. Most students get the work-study program information through schoolmates, teachers or student assistance administration center. Moreover, vast majority of students think that it is not easy to obtain work-study program information.4.The tort students encountered in the process of taking part in work-study programs mainly reflects in salary delay or unreasonable deduction,or being deceived by the mediation.Furthermore,it could happen that students participating in work-study programs are looked down upon by others. And individual students who encountered tort just think they simply have bad luck. For the problems mentioned above, this thesis concludes that the reasons that affect the students from poor families to take part in work-study programs in private colleges mainly embody in students' lack of skills and inadequate grasp of the policy, insufficient social support, poor school management, and parents' less knowing about work-study program.Suggestions which are from the perspective of the sociality, school, family and student, are put forward to promote the students to participate in work-study programs, and then to enhance their participation in it and finally realize the function of work-study program.
