A Study On The Construction Of Poor Students' Work-study Program System In Colleges

Economical condition is one of the important factors that create inequality of educational opportunities, so subsidizing poor student is a powerful measure to promote equality of educational opportunities. The policy of subsidizing students makes great contributions to realize the equality of higher education. It is necessary to develop consciousness and ability of poor students of reliving their poverty by themselves, for higher education isn't compulsory and it is impossible to improve the poor students'conditions by government completely. Work-study Program helps poor students improve the ability of relieving poverty by themselves, realize the transformation from external help to self-help, and cultivate their thought of self-development, their abilities and comprehensive qualities.Studies in the research on poor students'Work-study Program which are limited in original framework, policy and rules, lay emphasis on subsidization, not self-help. These studies on the present condition pay attention to theory, not to positiveness. It is important to study how to construct Work-study Program base, how to ensure that the program develop effectively socially, how to promote the program forward institutionalisation and legal systemization, how to combine work and study.This essay, therefore, based on the reference of abundant research literature, has investigated the present condition of poor students'Work-study Program in colleges or universities, and has found out the existing problems as mentioned below: distinguishing subjects vaguely, managing imperfectly, lacking in funds, posts, mental posts, socialparticipation and support. Then the paper analyses the causes of the problems from poor student themselves, school and society. Based on the thought of equality of educational opportunities and others, and enlightening experiences at home and abroad, the paper suggests some measures as below: to renew our idea and realize the significance of Work-study Program, to perfect organs, rules and Higher Education Law, to raise funds from various channels, to strengthen contact of students, higher school and society, to provide better atmosphere for Work-study Program by accelerating inform of education system and practicing elastic credit system, to push Work-study Program forward base, industrialization and education, to pay attention to educating and guiding poor students.
