With the popularity of mass media tools,pictures are widely used in all kinds of industries,“picture era” is coming quietly,and gradually changes people's reading habits.Reading is not only an important way that students learn Chinese language,but it also is an virtual capacity that students from Primary schools and Middle schools need to master.It is hard to express thoughts of author with simple literal interpretations,however,textbook with relevant pictures will make the article content more vivid,adding to the enthusiasm of the students to read.Iconography regards the pictures as the research object,and makes detailed discussions about pictures from a variety of angles,at all levels of the image depth,a deep research of iconography have great significances for textbook in Primary schools and Middle schools.This paper focuses on this theme,and is divided into four chapters.The first chapter analyzes the theory of Iconography,introduces the meaning of the image,the origin,the main theory and external and internal research statuses,It analyzes the "Warburg","Panofsky","Gombrich" three milestone stage of development.The second chapter introduces research of textbook's illustration efficacy in the primary schools and middle schools under other perspectives,mainly involved in the field of education,psychology,sociology and aesthetics.From the perspective of Iconography,the third chapter analyzes textbook's illustrationsin the primary schools and middle schools,and introduces Theoretical basis and factors affecting textbook's illustration efficacy and cases.In the introductions of the theoretical basis,this paper analyzes the three key words of the iconography-images,text,awareness,and explores the links between pictures and image symbols,pictures and visual effects,so as to explore a theoretical basis,and one case about the core values of socialism in the third chapter make article more substantial and effectively support the argument of this article.The fourth chapter,from the perspective of iconography,discusses four major effects on textbook's illustration in the primary schools and middle schools and gives a positive affirmation.Finally,from the perspective of Iconography,the article summarizes and gives several recommendations,hoping to provide a useful reference for language education in primary and middle schools.
