The position of China in the international world is constantly increased based on the rapid economic growth of China.This tendency has set off a wave of learning Chinese around the world.“Chinese fever” heat up in South Korea earlier than other countries due to the geographical proximity of Korea and China,so more and more Koreans want to learn Chinese.According to this trend the number of school that opens a Chinese class has been appreciably increased in South Korea.In addition,the South Korean Education Ministry employs native Chinese speakers as assistant teachers for the improvement of student's communication skill in Chinese.Chinese assistant teachers and Korean Chinese teachers work together as a team called “Chinese co-teaching” which means that Korean Chinese teacher teams up with Chinese assistant teacher and share teaching plans,teaching activities,student evaluation and class evaluation.Chinese co-teaching is a new method of Chinese education in South Korea.Recently many schools apply a Chinese co-teaching to Chinese classes in South Korea,but several problems that affect the success or failure of the Chinese co-teaching remained to be addressed.This study investigated the essential factors that affect the success or failure of the Chinese co-teaching.This study can be divided into five parts.The first part of the study included the purpose and importance of this study,plans and methods,and the introduction of related studies.At the second part of this study showed the model of Chinese co-teaching in high school including the background theory of co-teaching and reported the current situation of the Chinese co-teaching in high school at Gyeonggi-do in South Korea.The third part demonstrated the result of the survey and analyzed essential factors that affect the success or failure of the Chinese co-teaching.Thirty-three Korean Chinese teachers and thirty Chinese assistant teachers from thirty general high schools in South Korea participated the survey.The contents of the survey included discussion situation of the before and after a class,cooperation situation during class hours,communication situation between two teachers and administrative support situation.To support the result of survey we interviewed twenty Korean Chinese teachers and Chinese assistant teachers.We analyzed the overall results of survey and interview.At the fourth part,reasonable and effective solutions of the difficulties were suggested based on the analysis results.The fifth part is a conclusion,including a deficiency of this paper and an expectation of the related studies in the future.
