A Study On The Problems Of Public Toilet In Compulsory Education School Under The Perspective Of "Functionalism"

This paper chose J.primary school in Gansu province as the research object.The author analyzed and summarized the existing problems in school toilets and made practical suggestions and countermeasures and broke the previous study which is only on the toilet hygiene by studying the relative files,doing the field research as well as the interviews,etc.School toilets as an indispensable infrastructure in the school environment,in addition,meeting the students' physiological excretion needs,it also needs to realize other educational functions,including moral education,labor education,safety and respect for education,environmental education.The results show that the current school toilets situation affects students' physical health and mental health as well as the overall school environment harmony.The reasons for the above phenomenon: 1.It does not have detailed and specific policy documents about school toilets-building standards.2.School toilets management is ignored by the school.3.The study of school toilets problems is extremely poor.School toilets building exists several main problems : 1.School toilets facilities are not up to standards,not complete,and the hardware equipment is weak.2.School toilets building doesn‘t base on the different needs of different age group students,such as the age,the sex and the proper space.3.There is no dedicated facility for children with disabilities and young children.4.The location of the school toilets planning is unreasonable.The significance of the study is that the school toilets as an indispensable part of the school education environment,which works on fitting with the school's overall educational environment well,as well as in order to promote the harmonious development of students' physical and mental health.
