South Korea is the country that sends the most overseas students to China.70%of its high schools set up Chinese language courses.With more and more people in Korea learning Chinese,studies on Chinese language teaching and learning in Korea are also attached great importance increasingly.Cultural teaching is very important in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.It can promote external Chinese language learners' learning,transforming it into communicative competence to finish the final goal of language learning.Therefore,it is meaningful for researches on cultural teaching in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language in South Korea.The author surveys current cultural teaching in South Korea through the questionnaires and interviews combining with the author's own cultural teaching experience in high schools.It finds that there exist some problems in present cultural teaching of high schools in South Korea.Therefore,it provides relevant cultural teaching strategies and specific case instruction responding to these problems so it can enlighten the follow-up scholars and educators on cultural teaching in South Korea.The first chapter of this paper introduces the background of paper selection,aim and significance of the research.It reviews relevant research on cultural teaching in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.The second chapter of this paper mainly analyzes the questionnaires on students as well as the interviews on teachers to learn the current cultural teaching in high schools of South Korea as well as the existed problems.Questionnaires on students mainly focus on the following aspects:students' knowledge on the cultural content in Chinese teaching materials,students' knowledge on the relationship between cultural teaching and language teaching,students' interest in Chinese culture,students' needs on cultural teaching methods,students' learning time on cultural teaching as well as students' requirements on teachers of Chinese culture.Interviews on teachers mainly focus on the following aspects:cultural arrangement of teaching materials,specific cultural teaching and methods,teaching effect and students' feedback.It finds that there exist some problems in cultural teaching through questionnaires on students and interviews on teachers about current teaching in high schools of South Korea.The third chapter of this paper points out the specific problems in cultural teaching of high schools in South Korea:high schools in South Korea do not pay much attention to cultural teaching;cultural teaching faculty needs strengthening and teaching materials needs perfecting;cultural teaching is not combined with language teaching;learning time of cultural teaching cannot be guaranteed.Meanwhile,this chapter makes specific analysis on the existed problems to enlighten the following part about cultural teaching strategies.The fourth chapter of this paper mainly provides specific strategies and case instruction based on the current problems in cultural teaching of high schools in South Korea.It mainly discusses the following aspects:schools in South Korea should strengthen and support Chinese cultural teaching;teachers of cultural teaching should improve themselves comprehensively;the design of Chinese cultural teaching materials needs perfecting;strengthening emotional connection with students;combine cultural teaching and language teaching;reinforcing collaborative teaching with cooperative teachers.This chapter also provides some specific strategies and case instruction on cultural teaching.The fifth chapter summarizes the results of this research and points out some of its limitations meanwhile.
