Group Work Involved In Spiritual Comfort Of Urban Younger Empty-nest Elderly

In accordance with relevant investigations,till the end of 2012,the population of the empty nest elderly was 99 million,which acceded 100 million in 2013.The empty nest elderly encounter with a grim situation,and the government has adopted many policies to guarantee their material life,yet made little efforts to satisfy their mental requirement.In the society,more care is given to ensure the material guarantee and life of poverty-stricken high-aged elderly and the elderly in rural areas,but the explorations usually end at theoretical levels,and practical intervention with the spiritual comfort for urban younger empty-nest elderly is far from enough.The demands of spiritual comfort for urban younger empty-nest elderly will bring not only a heavy pressure to empty nest families but also numerous risks and challenges to the old age care in China.Therefore,it is urgent to quicken the researches on practical intervention to solve the problem.Taking the younger empty-nest elderly in Y community of Nanchang as the research objects,and on the basis of studying the present situation of the younger empty-nest elderly by using the method of literature method,this paper investigated and assessed the spiritual comfort needs of them through questionnaires.The findings showed that,the empty nesters in Community Y had a high income,and they could take a good care of themselves to a greater extent,but their needs for emotional support,interpersonal communication and entertainment was satisfied insufficiently.Younger empty-nest elderly have strong demands on spiritual comfort,where social work is needed.In terms of the current situation of the needs of younger empty-nest elderly in the community,in the process of practical teamwork,the author is based theoretically on social support and social activity,and conducts five team activities in total.The evaluation on the practical work shows that,the team activity reaches expected objectives and achieves good results.To satisfy the spiritual comfort for younger empty-nest elderly,we should do a good job in the following aspects: Firstly,the government policy should give support to the returning home children and the empty parents;Secondly,improve community functions,and establish cultural activities centers for the elderly;Thirdly,carry forward the traditional culture of respecting and loving the elderly,and promote the concept of spiritual support;Fourthly,vigorously support social work institutions,and promote the construction of social workers;Fifthly,carry out group work according to local conditions.
