In recent years,Chinese excellent traditional cultural background more and more have concentrated in the field of ideology.In modern society more and more people set off a craze for Chinese culture and have turned their attention to traditional culture,from which to draw excellent nutrition.Traditional academies of classical learning which began in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Song Dynasty,stretched to the Qing Dynasty.They existed for a thousand years.As unique educational organizations and academic institutions in Chinese feudal society,traditional academies of classical learning grew up between the government and private schools and combined the advantages of the two.Unique spiritual connotation of vitality which accumulated and concentrated in the long-term development embodied the style of running traditional academies of classical learning.Traditional academies of classical learning were deeply rooted in the Chinese traditional culture.Traditional academies of classical learning embodied the spirit of independent research,the spirit of moral benefit for common people,the spirit of seeking truth and being practical and the spirit of innovation in respect of teaching.These spirits not only deeply influenced generations of Chinese literati and the prosperity of ancient traditional culture but also trained a large number of talents who aimed at teaching and benefited common people.These spirits also played a positive social significance in the cultivation of sound personality,in the improvement of social prevailing and in the dissemination of national culture.Although traditional academies of classical learning gradually became official schools in the feudal pattern and their spiritual characteristics were also restricted to a certain extent,they were finally replaced by the new-style schools in the social crisis and education reform.However,the end of the system does not mean that the spirits of traditional academies of classical learning are dying.In the new era,traditional academies of classical learning are booming.To study and research the system of traditional academies of classical learning is the positive performance of the revival and reconstruction of Chinese culture.Under the background of Western University mode,in order to preserve the national characteristics of Chinese universities and promote the pace of their development and reform,we must integrate the essence of traditional education into the modern higher education system on the basis of inheritance and innovation.We also must deepen the understanding and grasp of the spirits of traditional academies of classical learning from which we can get a lot of useful experience and enlightenment.In this paper,the author thinks that we should reconsider the excellent model of traditional academies of classical learning,summarize their characteristics,sort out their historical course,excavate their educational idea and highlight their spirits of the times.Only in this way can we deepen the discussion on the construction of modern university education with Chinese characteristics and promote the connotative development of Higher Education.
