| With the social development, secondary vocational education becomes increasingly important and receives special attention. The development of secondary vocational education relies on,to a great degree,a group of stable and high-qualified teachers. However, what’s the current situation of the stability of the teachers in the secondary vocational schools and what is the quality of such stability? It is based on these questions that this paper makes a survey of the “J” secondary vocational school in Panzhihua city to get a full understanding of the current situation of the stability of the teachers in the secondary vocational schools,to uncover the related factors and to offer some suggestions accordingly, the purposes of which are to(1)provide some references for the improvement of the quality of the stability of the teachers in the secondary vocational school,(2)to attract the attention of the society to the problem of teachers’ stability,(3)to help the teachers and the researchers make a self-reflection on their own state of such stability.Questionnaires are adopted in this paper as an important research method, with which all the teachers in the “J” secondary vocational school in Panzhihua city are questioned in order to get a general understanding of the current situation of teachers’ stability and the students’ quality.Further, eight teachers are picked out on purpose to receive semi-structured interviews to make a deep study on the current situation of teachers’ ability and related problems behind such situation. It shows that,by this research, there are such features of the teachers’ stability in the “J” secondary vocational school.(1)The teachers’ group is stable as a whole, and the intention to resignation is gradually weakened.(2)The stability of the teachers differs in terms of sexes, ages and subjects. It is also found that, according to the semi-structured interviews of eight teachers who are different in subjects, ages and sexes, the main reasons for such situation of the stability of the teachers lie in the following three aspects:(1)Some teachers don’t want to change for another job because working as a teacher in the secondary vocational school is relatively stable and(2)less stressful.(3)Some teachers are not qualified enough to change for a new job.By making a further analysis of the data collected by interviews and questionnaires,it is concluded that the seeming stability of the teachers’ group is in low-quality and unhealthy in that the teachers are working without strong desire or motivation and they are weak in the sense of professional development. The following two reasons can explain why such situation came into being.Firstly, the quality of the students is so poor that it greatly affects the acceptance, the state in work and the professional development of the teachers.Secondly, the school management system is not scientific or effective enough, generating strong side effects on the teachers’ development. Therefore,we are suggested to improve the quality of the teachers’ stability by the joint efforts of the national policy, school management and the teachers themselves, such as(1)to establish a moveable system fit for the teachers to keep the tensile force between the stability and mobility of the teachers’ group,(2)to enhance the teachers’ feelings of the professional achievement and happiness on the basis of teachers’ stability,(3)to set up a more reasonable and encouraging assessment system to make the teachers’ group stable and energetic,(4)to make the teachers have access to the professional development by offering them useful guidance and paths to keep the teachers’ group stable and meaningful,(5)to have a correct recognition and understanding of the occupation of being a vocational school teacher and to improve these teachers’ professional identity,(6)to improve the teachers’ individual quality and professional competence by different kinds of self-learning. |
