Many studies have found that silence phenomenon is particularly serious in English class.To study the phenomenon of students' silence in English class of junior school classroom teaching,which helps to clear the silence of the manifestations,causes and solutions,provide the basis objective for teachers to analysis and determine the students classroom participation behavior,make timely teaching adjustments,carry out effective teaching.In this paper,the middle school students in the English class of negative silence as the research object,for middle school English classroom silence causes,take classroom observation,questionnaire survey,access conversation and literature to study and solve the problem.The author selected four schools in Yantai city to investigate and analyze the survey results.Through the investigation we come to the conclusion: students' own factors,teacher factors and external environmental factors caused the class silence.Student factors include learning motivation,language ability,lack of confidence,anxiety and herd mentality,etc.Teacher factors include teachers' teaching methods,classroom feedback,questioning strategies,and the relationship between teachers and students.The external environmental factors of cultural factors include Chinese traditional culture and teaching concept,English classroom atmosphere and current English evaluation system.The survey found that the participation of the English class depends largely on the degree of recognition of teachers,so teachers should take more measures.From the point of view of solving practical problems,the author puts forward four feasible suggestions and strategies for the teaching of teachers.
