Objective:To study the relationship between parent-child separation and left-behind children's internet addiction, and to explore the mediating effect of the quality of parent-child relationship.Methods:1051 students from 9 schools were assessed by3 different questionnaires,General information questionnaire of left-behind children, the Internet Addiction Diagnostic Questionnaire translated by Cui L.j.,Pan Q.and the Relationship Quality Version revised by Kong Z.A total of 1051 questionnaires were distributed, and 937 valid questionnaires were received, the effective rate was 89.2%.Results:(1)the IA rate of left-behind children washigher than non-left-behind children, and there wereno significant difference in gender, grade, types of parents who wereout for job and whether the only child. There wassignificant difference in the IA rate among different left-behind duration groups.(2)There weresignificant correlations among parent-child separation,IA,and the quality of parent-child relationship.(3)The durationof separation, the conflict between father and child couldpredict left-behind children IA.(4)The conflict between father and child partiallymediated the effects of parent-child separation on IA.Conclusion:(1)Compared to non-left-behind children,left-behind children were more likely to be addicted to the Internet, and the duration of parent-child separation longer, the IA rate would be higher.(2)The quality of parent-child relationshipwasclosely correlated with IA,the IA rate of left-behind children would be higher if the conflict between father and child was higher.(3)The parent-child separation of left-behind children could influence the Internet Addiction through the mediating effect of the quality of parent-child relationship. The expanding of left-behind duration could increase the IA rate of left-behind children through aggravating the conflict between father and child. Thus the parents could keep their children away from IA by shorting the parent-child separation duration, relieving the conflict between father and child through increasing communication frequency and improve communication quality.
