Abstract/Summary:
Task-based Language Teaching Approach(TBLT)dates back to the 1980 s,and its development and improvements benefit from the support of the theories such as language theories,second language acquisition theories and foreign language teaching theories.Despite this fact,most high school teachers draw little attention to TBLT,because they prefer traditional teaching approaches.As a result,it will meet lots of problems and difficulties during the implementation of TBLT.On the basis of the explanation of English grammar teaching,this thesis focuses on a survey and analysis of the current situation of how TBLT is applied to the teaching of English grammar in senior high schools,and further studies the factors which affect teachers using TBLT and analyzes the problems and difficulties to make reasonable teaching strategy.At last,the author summarizes the problems and makes a conclusion.The objective of this investigation is to answer the questions:(1)What is the current situation of TBLT in English grammar teaching of the senior high schools of Nanzhao county?(2)What are the major factors that affect the application of TBLT in the teaching of English grammar?(3)What are the major problems and difficulties that teachers encounter in implementing TBLT?The main methods used in this study are questionnaire,classroom observation and interview.In order to make an investigation on Task-based Language Teaching Approach applied in grammar teaching,the research is mainly targeted at teachers who are from Nanzhao No.1 Senior High School and Nanzhao Xiandai Senior High School.For the purpose of accuracy and comprehensiveness,a group of students are also included in the research as subsidiary objectives.Findings from this research show that teachers have a certain understanding about TBLT,but they rarely adopt it in grammar teaching.By analyzing the research results,the author concludes that,professional skills of teachers,teaching stress,pressure in the college entrance examination,teacher appraisal and English proficiency of students are factors which exert influences on teachers’ using TBLT in grammar teaching.The major problems and difficulties in teachers’ implementation of TBLT are as follows: the lack of teaching resources,boring and difficult grammar,too many tasks are assigned,less learning initiative of the students,inadequate professional capacity of teachers and school leader thinks little of teaching approaches.
