| With the deep-going development of the new curriculum reform, the new requirements for the contents of English teaching are brought forward. There has always been a controversial question as to whether grammar should be taught in English teaching at senior high school. There is no doubt that English grammar teaching has always been an indispensable and important constituent in English teaching at middle school for a long time. The methods of grammar teaching differ with the changes of teachers, students, pedagogy and so on. In the traditional class, there are three approaches in the English class: presentation, practice and product. We call it 3Ps teaching method. As it is controlled by the teachers, the students learn English passively. There is less communication between teachers and students, both of whom have pressure. 3Ps not only neglects students’ autonomous learning ability, but also reduces their motivation and interest of learning.In this thesis, the author presents that task-based language teaching should be applied to grammar teaching. The author also intends to testify the practicability and effectiveness of Task-based language teaching by discussing the principles, features and significance of task-based language teaching and grammar teaching and by searching numerous theoretical foundation and present situations of research. The research methods of this thesis mainly involve a questionnaire, a pre-test and post-test, an interview and a classroom observation. In order to improve students’ grammar learning and help students acquire grammar learning strategies, the author conducted a four month research to make students learn with tasks. Students are from Grade One in Faku Senior High School in Shenyang. With the teaching activities carried out, the writer attempted to find answers to the following questions.1. Comparing with the 3Ps teaching method, will task-based approach help students learn grammar knowledge more effectively?2. Can task-based approach stimulate students’ motivation of learning grammar?3. Can task-based approach help promote students’ ability of autonomous study?On the basis of experimental data, the author finds that task-based approach can have a better effect than traditional teaching methods, and it also helps students to improve motivation and autonomous learning ability of learning, but at the same time it has some inevitable disadvantages and defects. |
