English course has been carried out more than ten years in primary school,which has made progress in teaching methods and teaching model,but it still has some problems in English class such as single teaching methods,teacher-centered phenomenon and so on.“English curriculum standards of compulsory education”(2011)has pointed out that teacher should cultivate students' ability to use language comprehensively through a variety of practice activity,adopt the way of listening,doing,talking,singing,playing to build students' confidence in English learning.The main aim of English course in primary school is to stimulate pupils' interests and arouse their enthusiasm in English.So it is essential to use activity teaching.It can not only reflect the students' subjectivity,but also improve the efficiency of the classroom and guarantee the students' learning effect.Based on the theory of activity teaching,this study mainly adopted the methods of classroom observation,interview and questionnaire survey.So this study analyzed the design and implementation situation of English classroom activity.Through the investigation and analysis,the author found that the common types of English classroom activity are imported activity and cooperation activity,which can be in various forms when each activity is implemented.The teaching content,student demand and activity itself are mainly as the design basis.However there are still some problems when the classroom activities are carried out,for example the frequency of class activities is not high,the form of activities organization is single,the activities are so difficult for students,some students are not interested in the activities,teachers lack timely evaluation and so on.Reasons for these problems are teachers lack of activity teaching quality,the difference of students' English level and activity design beyond the students' current level.So this study puts forward the following suggestions: first,English teachers should improve the activity teaching quality;second,teachers should pay attention to all the students and teach the students according to their aptitude;third,teachers should pay attention to timely evaluation and improve the evaluation system of activity teaching.
